The Courtyard

The Courtyard at The Smith Flat House offers an expansive open-air setting designed for larger gatherings and seated events for up to 200 guests. Framed by historic structures and anchored by a covered pavilion, the space accommodates daytime ceremonies, seated dinners, and evening receptions beneath the Sierra Foothills sky. As daylight fades, the courtyard shifts naturally into a more intimate atmosphere — transitioning from open-air dining to conversation and celebration under the evening lights.

During the winter months, the pavilion transforms into a glass-enclosed room, providing an intimate setting for up to 50 guests. This adaptable design allows gatherings to continue comfortably year-round while maintaining the architectural character of the property.
