This was the first time dining at the Smith Flat House. Highly recommend! The service was awesome, the food was delicious and the building is so historic.
One of the best plates of chicken picatta I have ever had! The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce has the perfect amount of lemony deliciousness.
Delicious! Always outstanding service, with intreging, yet romantic atmosphere.
I made a reservation for 15 people for a friend's 50th Birthday. Smith flat house was great from the start. I had to call to add a few more people to the reservation count a few days before our date and they were so kind and were able to accommodate our increase in people without an issue. The menu had some many wonderful options, the drinks were so delicious the lemon drop was one of the best I have had in awhile. Our waitress was so attentive to our party and so helpful on the menu items and suggestions. The ambiance was perfect to celebrate our dear friend's birthday. The food quality was top notch. I had the lemon chicken Piccata and it was full of flavor and delicious. The chefs turn out tasty high quality food. We will be back for sure. We had such a great evening. Tending to large parties is sometimes difficult and our waitress did it with ease.
The black and white dinner was superb! The filet was cooked perfectly, the mashed potato's were smooth and creamy, and the flavors were savory. Our wait staff was prompt, polite, and very professional. My husband and I will be dining here again!
This was an absolute amazing dish, I would order this a million times over again. The corn and bacon flavor was perfect with the creamy carbonara. The dish was a good portion, you could get pasta and a salad or pizza and share this meal and pair with some wine! 100% will have again.
I came into Smith Flat at the recommendation of a number of my friends, and after my experience I will surely reiterate their recommendation to anyone who will listen. I ordered the lamb shank, but started with a house salad. While the salad itself was not the main attraction, I was blown away by the playful balance between savory, sweet, crunchy, and soft throughout the dish. The pickled onions brought the perfect amount of acid and sweetness to complement the feta and balsamic dressing. The croutons gave the perfect crunch to contrast with the spring mix, and it was perfectly dressed. But, as delicious as that salad was, the lamb shank was even more awe-inspiring. The Head Chef Scott Tomblin is in his bag, as if he ever left, and he served up an absolute beauty. While my server gave me a steak knife to cleave the shank from the bone, I did not have to use it even once because the meat gently fell from the bone with little resistance. Biting into the meat was a whirlwind of experiences: wonderful umami, moisture galore, and spectacular depth throughout the meat. The meat itself was tender, succulent, and had the perfect balance of flavor throughout. It was, without a doubt, the tastiest piece of meat I have ever received on a plate. Plating the lamb atop a bed of mashed potatoes is a stroke of Tomblin's genius at work yet again. They soak up all the flavor of the meat, but instead of a tender piece of meat falling off the bone, they are a fluffy cloud with a delicious garlic finish. I have since dined at Smith Flat a number of times, but I find that whenever I do, I try and try something new. Wonderful staff, wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, and somehow it is all underappreciated.
The tostadas are great and the fresh pineapple salsa is best.
